RUAHA NATIONAL PARK - SELOUS GAME RESERVE - ZANZIBAR ISLAND - 10 Days / 9 Nights

Day 1: Arrival Day
Upon arrival at Dar Es Salaam International Airport from home you will meet our representative. A welcome greeting and been transferred to a designated hotel in Dar Es Salaam city. You will spend an overnight at the hotel.

Day 2: Dar es Salaam / Ruaha National Park
In the morning after your breakfast a tour guide will come to your hotel and give you the briefing about your safari in Tanzania. Afterwards take the morning flight from Dar es Salaam, flying over the Udzungwa Mountains to reach Ruaha National Park. You'll transfer to Jongomero in time for lunch and an afternoon rest.

An afternoon game drive will reveal the beauty of the Ruaha National Park provided it is among the less visited parks in Tanzania. Ruaha is the second largest National Park in Tanzania after Serengeti and offers a large population of elephants elsewhere in Africa. Other popular wildlife in this virgin land includes the hippo, leopard, lion, zebra, and different species of antelopes, the only place in Tanzania to spotted Greater and lesser Kudu, wild dogs and jackal easily.

The Ruaha River accommodated numerous species such as hippo, crocodile among others to mention. Birdlife in Ruaha is abundant and more that 450 species both resident and migratory have been recorded todate. Late afternoon will be followed by a return to the lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 3: Ruaha National Park
Spend the full day in Ruaha with game drives in the morning and afternoon to explore this diverse park with its hills, plains and rivers. Enjoy your game drive for a full day and thereafter a rest at the lodge hot shower, dinner will be provided at a designated lodge. Have an overnight at the Ruaha National Park.

Day 4: Ruaha National Park
Morning after breakfast you will have another full day in Ruaha. The park contains all the major African mammals and more than 450 types of birdlife, some of which you will spot on game drives. A full-day drive with picnic lunch is recommended, heading to the Ruaha Hills in the north of the park and onto the river plains. Late afternoon drive back to the lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight at the designated lodge.

Day 5: Selous Game Reserve
A walking safari around the nearest part of Ruaha with an armed ranger. Back to the lodge for breakfast and thereafter you will drive to the airstrip. You will fly to Selous Game Reserve and upon your arrival you will meet our representative and transfer to the lodge.

Selous covering an area of 55,000 square kilometers marking the largest conservation wild land area in Africa. You'll spend three nights in this vast wilderness, with the chance to discover its wildlife on foot, by 4WD vehicle and by boat. There will be time this afternoon to set out on a safari activity before returning to the lodge by sunset for hot shower, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Selous Game Reserve
Take an early breakfast then head to the water to drift along the Rufiji River to spot its crocodile and pods of hippos and the wildlife that come to its banks for drinking water. After lunch at the lodge there will be time to relax by the pool before heading out in the later afternoon for a game drive and, instead of returning to the lodge, you will be setting up a bush fly camp for a unique wilderness experience in the Selous. This simple bush camp will be in a stunning spot and you will be treated to a delicious meal, cold drinks and will even have hot bucket showers.

Day 7: Selous Game Reserve
Awake in the bush at your fly camp and head out for a morning guided walk before driving back to the lodge for lunch. Join a game drive from the lodge in the late afternoon, looking out for game animals like lion, elephants, leopard and the elusive African wild dog.

Day 8: Swahili Coast
An early morning game drive and thereafter breakfast at the lodge. You will be transferred to an airstrip shortly for your flight back to Dar Es Salaam. Upon your arrival you will have lunch in Dar Es Salaam before move to Zanzibar. This spice island of Zanzibar can be accessed in only two ways either by air or sea. Both services are available daily and reservation can be made for you.

During afternoon hours you will be in Zanzibar and our tour guide will take you in different parts of the historical town of stone town. Late in the afternoon you will be back in a hotel or lodge for hot shower, dinner and overnight.

Day 9 - 10: For the next two days you will be staying at the hotel or lodge. Full accommodation will be provided on your stay. Zanzibar has lots to explore and our tour guide will give you briefing of what can be done while in this Island and it will be your choice to make decision.

Among other popular activities while in Zanzibar are: Traditional music (famous a Taarab a mixture of Arabic and Swahili style), relaxing on the white sand beaches, the Zanzibar spice tour (you will also see a soap tree), water sports games, diving, snorkeling, fishing, visiting the stone town and its narrow streets, Jozani forest (popular for its primates) and cultural touring are among a few to mention activities that can be done.

Day 11: After breakfast you will return to Dar es Salaam by the two means either by air or by boat. You will meet our representative at the point of entrance and transfer to a day room hotel. While in Dar Es Salaam take sometime to go around the popular historical site and thereafter hot lunch at a designated restaurant. Get back to the hotel for swimming and relaxation before an evening dinner at the hotel and thereafter transfer to the Dar Es Salaam International Airport for flight back home.
