MOUNT KILIMANJARO - RONGAI ROUTE MANYARA / SERENGETI / NGORONGORO - 10 DAYS

Day 1: The climb begins at the village of Nale Moru (1950 mts) through cultivated land before entering the pine forest. Watch out for Kilimanjaro Colobus monkeys in the tree tops with their white fringed 'capes' and tail. Taking 3 - 4 hours the first camp is on the edge of the moorland zone where the forest begins to thin out at First Cave at 8500 ft/2600 m. Overnight 1st Cave Camp.

Day 2: The morning walk is a steady ascent up to Second Cave at 11300 ft/ 3450 m with superb views of Kibo and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Pushing on to reach Third Cave taking 3 to 4 hours at 12800 ft/ 3800 m for overnight camp. Dinner and overnight 3rd Cave Camp.

Day 3: Continue ascending on the east side of Kibo crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo taking 4 to 5 hours to reach Kibo Hut at 15000 ft/ 4700 m. The remainder of the day is spent resting in preparation for the final ascent which begins mid-night. Dinner and rest at Kibo Camp.

Day 4: An early start for the summit on steep heavy screed to arrive at Gilman's Point at 18640 ft/ 5681 m in time to see the sun rise. Those who want to reach the highest point in Africa can take the approximately three hour excursion to Uhuru Peak 19340/ 5895 m passing close to the spectacular glaciers and ice cliffs that still occupy most of the summit area. The descent to Kibo is surprisingly fast and after some refreshment, continue the descent to reach the final campsite at Horombo at 12000 ft/ 3700 m taking 11 to 15 hours. Overnight Horombo Camp.

Day 5: A steady descent down through the moor land to Mandara Hut and then downward through the lush forest on a good path to the National Park gate at Marangu (1830 m) taking 5 to 7 hours. At Marangu gate all successful climbers to the Uhuru Peak and Gilman's Point will be provided with certificates of different notation. Hot lunch will be provided at the gate by our chief and have some celebration dancing. After lunch you will be transferred to the lodge/hotel in Arusha for hot shower, swimming and relaxation at the before dinner and overnight at the designated accommodation.

Day 6: In the morning you will meet your safari guide for briefing about the safari to the northern circuit of Tanzania. After explanations you will be driving to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive with either picnic lunch or arranged hot lunch at the lodge. Game drive will be done until late afternoon then retire to the hotel or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: After breakfast in the morning you will be driving to Serengeti National Park en-route Olduvai Gorge a historical popular site in Tanzania and the World at large. Depending with the arriving time, we can do late afternoon game drive to Serengeti. The day ends up with a retirement at the lodge for hot shower dinner and an overnight.

Day 8: The day will be spent to explore the vast area of Serengeti National Park and both morning and afternoon game drive will be done. Serengeti National Park is the largest national park in Tanzania in terms of an area and sanctuary of wildlife and birdlife that it accommodates.

Day 9: An early game drive in Serengeti National Park again before returning to lodge for breakfast. After breakfast we will be drive to Ngorongoro crater and upon arriving to the conservation area we will descend to the crater floor for afternoon game drive. Ascend later afternoon for an overnight at the designated lodge for dinner, hot shower and an overnight.

Day 10: Early in the morning you will have your breakfast and packed lunch and thereafter descend to the crater floor for a game drive. Picnic lunch at the designated area and go ahead with game drive before ascend for driving back to Arusha. We will be in Arusha by evening and we will have our hot dinner before been transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport back home.
