Kigoma Hilltop Hotel
Kigoma hilltop hotel is the famous hotel in western circuit in Tanzania set onto the hill, having natural landscape and gardens, overlooking the calm blue waters of Lake Tanganyika and the majestic mountains of Congo from the rear. It is an ideal starting point for tours to Gombe Stream and Mahale Mountains National Parks.
The hotel has 30 cottage types of accommodation and within each room en-suite bathroom is available. Single, double or triple accommodation is possible while at the hotel.
The Kigoma hilltop hotel offers varieties of dishes from African to European cuisines without forgetting that hilltop is on the lakeshore and we offer cold water fresh fish in each meal everyday. The fish is prepared in a well manner with spices and other ingredients. The bar is available with range of local and international drinks including bottled water, beers, hard liquors and wines.
Other facilities include the water sports games and swimming pool to cool your body after a long hiking to either Gombe or Mahale National Park.
Greystoke Mahale
Greystoke Mahale is a unique place to stay situated within the heavy rainforest of the Mahale Mountains. The accommodation has protruded to the golden beach along the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika. Greystoke is a paradise of tracking the Mahale Chimpanzee the world's largest known population of approximately 1000 individuals. Out of the forest, the beach is ideal for sun worshipping and relaxing, while the lake yields many other activities.
The accommodation at Greystoke is in the form of luxury bandas each beneath shady trees on the edge of the beach. Within the rooms are well furnished recycled dhow timber with large beds and private bathroom. Greystoke has 6 open bandas on the beach overlooking the Lake Tanganyika with the private verandah.
The Greystoke has a restaurant which offer varieties of fresh cold water fish, African and European cuisine each meal with seasonal fresh vegetables and fruits. Dinner is either served in the spacious Mess tent by the light of flaming torches at the waters edge, or by the light of the moon on a 50-foot mahogany dhow on the crystal waters of Lake Tanganyika.
The two bars which are in Greystoke Mahale are unique on their structure and set offering all the local and international liquors which are famous including the soft drinks and bottled water. The day will be windup to the relaxation point have a soda, a beer or glass of wine of your choice.
Apart from the fact that the main purpose for visiting Mahale National Park is for either tracking the Mahale Chimpanzee or a game drive to the lower sides other activities that Mahale can offer when you are at Greystoke Mahale includes: Snorkeling, fishing games, swimming, sundowners on the dhow, kayaking and forest walks accompanied by an armed ranger.
