Kinasi Lodge

Kinasi Lodge is located some 15 Kilometers from Mafia Island Airport, on the south east coast of Mafia Island at Utende, overlooking Chole Bay. The Lodge is closed during the long rains from Easter to 1^st June each year.                        

The lodge has 11 cottages which at one time can only accommodate 28 visitors. All cottages are spacious with en-suite bathroom and covered verandah. Within the cottages there are also fans and mosquito nets.

Kinasi lodge restaurant offers much of the fresh seafood, fish of different kinds from prawns, crab, loster and octopus a few just to mention, served with fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits. The Swahil cuisine is also a major concern with seafood barbecues. You can cool your thirsty by seating and relax on to the Kinasi bar and have your cold or warm drinks at your choice.

Activities at the lodge include water sports, boat dives, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, nature trails and bird watching walks.

Pole Pole Bungalow Resort

Pole Pole bungalow resort is situated at the Utende area in Mafia Island, in a shade place with the Indian Ocean view. The resort has well organized accommodation with bathrooms have double wash basins, toilets and king-size showers.

At the restaurant best dishes are offered from Italian, African, Asia and other European cuisine and a very relaxing and lovely environment. A bar at a side welcomes you with full range of drinks from abroad and local made both cold and hot once.

Other activities available at Pole Pole bungalow resort include the scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing games as well as other popular water games. Due to it set Mafia is contiguous to other Island and the traditional dhows are used to ferry visitors from one point to another for excursion.

Chole Mjini

Chole Mjini "Mjini is a Swahil name meaning town" is a lodge located on the Island of Chole on the Southern part of Mafia. The beauty of the Chole and Mafia in general is that it gives much of the authentic Africa remote areas with a touch of unspoilt beaches of the India Ocean.

At Chole Mjini there are eight rooms well designed and built using local material and perched in the baobab trees. The rooms are simple and very open to the elements as one would expect from a luxury tree house, but the beds are comfortable and each room has beautiful views. Some of the rooms have four poster beds and others hanging bed this is a truly adventure in Africa. The bathrooms and toilets are well organized but on the ground floor offering all the basic amenities include hot and cold shower.

The restaurant at Chole Mjini offers varieties of dishes from African, Indian, Italian and other European cuisine. Being dominated by Mafia dishes, the restaurant guarantee fresh fish, seafood, vegetables and seasonal fruits. Chole Mjini bar offers different drinks of your wish both local and international once.

There is a lot of activities to be done in Mafia as well as when you are in Chole Mjini. Chole has three traditional dhows and these are used for excursions to the sand banks or neighboring islands to explore or enjoy the beaches as those directly on Chole are not good as the mangrove forest runs into the sea. Reserved marine park of Chole is among the beautiful places for diving and snorkeling exploring the beauty coral reefs of the region.

Ras Mbisi Lodge

Ras Mbisi Lodge is situated on an excellent beach of Indian Ocean on the west coast of Mafia Island. Mafia is accessible by chartered craft from Dar Es Salaam in 30 minutes time, Or you can use boat from Rufiji while in Selous Game Reserve as well as when in Zanzibar by boat.

The Mbisi lodge comprises 9 spacious open tent bandas built using African architecture of coconuts wood. All the bandas are set some few meters along the white sand beach and lure waters of the Mafia Island.

On your staying in Ras Mbisi the restaurant within offers delicious food been dominated by fresh fish and seafood which has been obtain some few minutes from lovely Indian Ocean at your view point.
