BESN10: Trekking 5 Days Ngorongoro Crater Highlands Trekking

DAY 1: ARUSHA - NAINOKANOKA MAASAI VILLAGE
Depart Arusha at 0630am for game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. Picnic lunch will betaken in the crater. After lunch you will make your way out of the crater by a different route and head for Nainokanoka village. There is a small campsite near by, while the caris unloaded you will head up to Olmoti Crater with an armed guard (against wildlife) Oldmoti crater has several small Maasai communities tucked away on the crater floor, watch the comings and goings of these friendly people. There is also a waterfall that pours through agroove in the side of the crater, if your brave enough take a refreshing shower. Return back down to camp for dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: NAINOKANOKA - BULATI MAASAI VILLAGE.
After breakfast trek across the Embulbul Depression to the base of the Empakaai Crater the walking cuts through grass plains, which hold various small group of Gazelle and Zebra. Head up to Bulati village for dinner and overnight. The trek will take you about 5 hours.

DAY 3: BULATI MAASAI VILLAGE - EMPAKAAI CRATER RIM
Early breakfast, trek to the rim of the Empakaai Crater and descend through lush vegetation to the crater floor for a tour of the lake- shores which are teaming with thousands of pink flamingos. Picnic lunch break in the crater. Ascend to rim for dinner and overnight at Nyika-Empakaai bush camp. This is a long day hike (about 8 hours) the walking however isn't too strenuous.

DAY 4: EMPAKAAI CRATER RIM - KAMAKIA CAMP SITE (LAKE NATRON).
After Breakfast; trek down to the Naiyobi Maasai village where you will stop for a picnic lunch and a short visit to a nearby local Primary School. Proceed along the Great Rift Valley rim and down to the base of Mt. Ol Doinyo Lengai. The transfer vehicle will pick you from here and drive you to Kamakia campsite for dinner, retire early for rest. Drive to the base of Mt.Lengai at midnight. Start the climb up an ever-increasing rough track to the peak arriving in time for a rewarding sunrise. The mountain is still an active volcano, therefore you will be able to see live cones of bubbling mud and the smell of sulphur is thick in the air. The climb takes about 5.5 hours up and 3 down.

DAY 5: CLIMB MT LENGAI (2086 m) - DRIVE BACK TO ARUSHA.
You will be at the base at about 1100am where your transfer vehicle will pick you up and return to campsite for a welcome brunch (breakfast and lunch put together). After a good rest you will visit lake Natron for a short visit then drive back to Arusha arriving in the evening at about 0700pm.
