The Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the World's highest free standing structure at an altitude of 5896 meters above the sea level. Hiking on the rooftop of Africa is the adventure of a lifetime, and anyone who is physically fit can scale this snow capped mountain.
The mountain is located inside the Kilimanjaro National Park outside of Moshi and Himo towns in a beautiful accessible village of Marangu where the headquarters of the park are located. There are different routes to the top involving different villages and scenaries. Some of the popular routes include the Marangu, Machame, Umbwe, Rongai and Lemosho.
The shortest time to scale this mountain is five days using the Marangu route but it is also advisable to include one day for acclimatization. Other route takes up to eight or ten days. |
